I need to put steroid cream on my face due to malar rash.?

The doc said to use hydrocortisone, OTC. It doesnt seem to be working. What happens if you put to strong of steriod on your face. I read about skin thinning and atrophy. Does this mean my face skin will thin out and rip easy or die or what. Confused, rash wont go away even with steriod pills. Rash is on face cheeks, ears scalp, lower fore arms and shoulders.|||You%26#039;re right, you always want to use the lowest strength steroid cream on the face.

It%26#039;s not so much that the skin thinning will make it vulnerable to trauma, but the skin and underlying dermis will loose its vitality. Compare the skin right under your eye with the skin across the cheeks. That is the difference.

Still, if the rash isn%26#039;t going away, you can bump up to the next higher strength - like Locoid Lipocream - but if it%26#039;s not improving then, see a Dermatologist.
