Does anyone know how i can wean myself off of a topical steroid cream i use for my eczema?

Yes you can, the creams don%26#039;t work. I have used them only to find that it stops the itch for a while then it comes back. Use glycerin based soaps and lotions. Try this to soften the skin

1/4 cup oats (not instant)

2-4 Tablespoons warm water

Mix in a mixer. It should be the consistency of a paste. Apply to eczema and leave on for 5 min. Rinse with cool water. Use a glycerin based lotion.|||Stop applying it to your skin?!|||Just stop using it you don%26#039;t have to wean yourself from it.

I have psoriasis with is much worse and I refused to use the steriod creams because they thin your skin. As there are different levels of potency with the creams I would suspect only having eczema that it is low.|||If your doctors insist on giving you various topical steroids (as mine did), find a GOOD dermatologist, and tell him you need something different. Toprol XL and Elidel creams (together) have cleared up what topical steroids for me just made worse. After shower use an antifungal powder (Lotrimin) to dry it completely, and apply both creams. They say it takes two weeks to kill a fungus after you think it%26#039;s gone. It works. Good luck!|||When my daughter was 1 the allergy specialist was going to put her on a steroid cream to address eczema, we did not feel comfortable with that solution. Our neighbor suggested trying Renew from Melaleuca. Within one week her skin cleared and has not had problems since, she is 31/2 now. We feel that her eczemza was caused by allergies to chemicals in our house, so we switched our cleaning and laundry products too.
